Scottish Trail Running by Susie Allison

What a fantastic Christmas present to receive just before our move over the border.

Scottish Trail Running contains descriptions, route maps, elevation profiles and images of 70 great running routes in Scotland, ranging from simple 4km loops near Glasgow up to 48km routes in the Cairngorms.

It is laid out beautifully by region, with routes throughout Scotland, including the Islands. Even if you never intend to do any of the longer routes, it certainly makes you imagine that you could!

A five star from me.

Inspiring our running adventures

So far I have been using the book more for inspiration: we have gone out specifically to run the Antonine Wall route and to walk the North Third and Sauchie Crags route (it will make a lovely run when it is cooler.)

The route of the Crieff 10k which we ran in July is another route in this book, which I would highly recommend.

On one of our swimming adventures we walked along part of the Bochastle and Falls of Leny route and intend to return to run it. We have also spent quite a bit of time in Mugdock Country Park exploring the footpaths there and can highly recommend using the route in this book as a guide.
