Mannequins of the World
Mannequins of the World
This is a showcase for the under-celebrated world of mannequins, and especially the ones that don't fit their surrounds. It is essentially an image based blog as there isn't really much I can add verbally to aid your understanding. As we have done a fair bit of travelling in recent years I have developed an eye for quirky eclectic challenges to normality that add extra sparkle to even the best of days. Are these unanimated facsimiles of human form waiting perhaps for their time to live?
Hipsters in Tamil Nadhu
We spent several days in Tamil Nadhu and this photo was taken in Ooty (short for Udhagamandalam,) where I saw absolutely nobody who vaguely resembled these wonderful mannequins. Maybe there is a community of hipsters nearby and the enterprising business owner has bought in specialist dummies to corner the market in hipster clothing. Who knows?
Just why in Chiang Mai?
Again, I saw nobody who remotely resembled these mannequins in Chiang Mai, and we have now spent about 10 weeks there. In fact I don't think I've encountered the human equivalent of these dummies anywhere on planet Earth and if I ever do I think I might run for the hills.
Sofia or Sci-fi
The Bulgarians also seem determined to terrify their kids with this scary lot seen in Sofia. Surely this display was inspired by a popular TV sci-fi show, with little consideration for actually selling any of the clothing.
Guinessless in Ustovo
This chap seems to be a bit lost, as do his clothes, other than his St Patrick's day hat and tinsel neckwear. I know you are never supposed to be far from an Irish pub but Ustovo in southern Bulgaria did feel like an unlikely place to find him.
No Body in Pai
This unfortunate character seems to have lost an important part of his (or her) body. Perhaps they are waiting for the upper body to return so that they can continue on their way.
More mannequins will follow as we travel to other parts of the world and find yet more unspeaking and unspeakable characters who so improve our shopping experience.
